February next year will mark the fourth anniversary of the start of the war of aggression against Ukraine. The plight of the people affected—especially children—remains in focus in the district of Rottal-Inn. That is why the “Christmas parcels for children in Ukraine” campaign, which was successfully carried out again this Advent, is so important.
Numerous educational institutions participated with great enthusiasm: the Berta Hummel School in Massing, the Karl von Closen Gymnasium in Eggenfelden, the elementary school in Unterdietfurt, and the kindergartens in Massing, Oberdietfurt, and Unterdietfurt.
In Massing, the pupils of the combined class 1/2 lent a helping hand: they loaded the parcels, counted them eagerly and clearly enjoyed the activity – an experience that will certainly motivate them to help again next year. Headmistress Dagmar Rottbauer and organizer Gudrun Heuwieser were delighted with the willingness to help.
At the Karl-von-Closen-Gymnasium, the students worked together with organizers Mechthild Kögler and Julia Rabanter to load the donations.
An impressive total of 251 Christmas parcels were collected – 157 in Massing and 94 in Eggenfelden. The Massing-based company Stela then took care of the preparation and transport. The parcels are now on their way to Ukraine. The non-profit organization H.O.P.E – we help children e.V. once again ensured that the gifts arrived at children's hospitals and other institutions in time for St. Nicholas Day. This meant that numerous children were able to enjoy little surprises in the run-up to Christmas, which brought smiles to their faces. With this campaign, the students, teachers, and organizers are sending a strong message of solidarity.
