Challenge: This project is a greenfield initiative focusing on the construction of an environmentally sustainable and economically viable wood pellet production plant. The plant aimed to maximize production efficiency while minimizing energy consumption.
Solution: The BTU RecuDry® system was implemented to meet the challenges of drying and energy efficiency while complying with strict environmental standards. This dynamically adapts the heat utilization to fluctuating ambient temperatures in summer/winter and slightly changing product supply.

Challenge
Maximizing efficiency and energy savings: Drying of sawmill residue at the Pressath plant
At the Pressath plant, the main task was to dry sawmill residue from an initial moisture content of 40% to the targeted 10%, processing an annual tonnage of more than 650,000 pounds (approx. 300,000 mt). The plant aimed to maximize production efficiency while minimizing energy consumption, using a hot water boiler operating at a temperature of 130°C/90°C with waste fuel. This process was restricted by strict environmental permits, which are based on the highest European and national standards. The aim was to achieve the highest efficiency with the lowest operating expenditure (OPEX), in strict compliance with the European Best Available Technique and the German Technical Instructions on Air Quality Control.
Solution
